Louth Volunteer Centre is celebrating a major milestone this year, as it marks its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2003 as Drogheda Volunteer Centre, the Centre was launched by President Mary McAleese and has since become one of the 29 Volunteer Centres across the country and an affiliate of Volunteer Ireland.

Since its inception in 2003 as Drogheda Volunteer Centre, Louth Volunteer Centre has expanded its operations beyond its original location. In addition to its main office, the Centre has opened another office in Dundalk and an outreach office, both of which operate under the umbrella of Louth Volunteer Centre.

This expansion reflects the Centre's commitment to promoting volunteering across the entire county of Louth. With a presence in both Drogheda and Dundalk, Louth Volunteer Centre is able to provide support, training and guidance to Volunteer Involving Organisations and individuals looking to give back to their community throughout the county.

The outreach office, in particular, allows Louth Volunteer Centre to engage with communities that may be harder to reach, providing vital support and guidance to organisations and individuals in remote areas of the county.

The Centre's main objective is to promote the benefits of volunteering in Louth and offer support, training and guidance to Volunteer Involving Organisations and individuals looking to give back to their community. Louth Volunteer Centre to Host Week of Events for National Volunteering Week

Louth Volunteer Centre has announced a week of events to celebrate National Volunteering Week, which will take place from the 15th to the 21st of May. The events aim to celebrate volunteers and their contributions to the local community, as well as to promote volunteering as a rewarding and fulfilling activity for people of all ages.

The week will kick off on Monday, May 15th with the launch of Louth Volunteer Centre's new website, which will make it easier for people to find volunteering opportunities in their local area. The website will feature a range of new resources and tools to help volunteers connect with local organizations and find opportunities that suit their interests and skills.

On Tuesday, May 16th, Louth Volunteer Centre will host a Volunteer Leadership Seminar at O'Connell's GAA Club in Castlebellingham. The seminar will feature guest speakers and workshops on topics such as volunteer recruitment, management, and leadership. This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about volunteering and how to become a more effective volunteer leader.

Wednesday, May 17th will see a Virtual Lunch and Learn event, titled "Empowering Young Volunteers in Your Organization". This online event is aimed at promoting volunteering among younger people and will provide information and resources for organizations that work with youth volunteers. The event will feature presentations from experts in the field and will include a Q&A session for participants.

Thursday, May 18th will mark the 20th anniversary of the Louth Volunteer Centre, and to commemorate this milestone, an evening Highlands Gallery Exhibition will be launched. The exhibition will feature artwork from local artists, as well as photos and stories from volunteers who have contributed to the center over the past two decades. Finally, on Saturday, May 20th, Louth Volunteer Centre will host a "Bracken Bashing" event in Clogherhead.
